I can’t express enough how important photos are. Many clients are surprised when they hear I work from one main photo for the pose. I never look at a range of photos and then draw or paint a model in a different pose as to what we think he would look like. This just isn’t possible for my precise detailed work. By basing the artwork on one
photo I can be sure to capture the model personality and character. It is definitely helpful to have lots of photos of your him, and I can use others for detail and coloring. The photo you choose needs to depict the subject well – a photo where you would naturally say – “Ahh that’s a really good one of them”. Remember – you know everything about him – however can only go by the photos you send.

No.

Framing is currently not available. My portraits don’t arrive to you framed. In the next future I plan to work with a number of high quality framers and you’ll be able to find out about them in my upcoming framing section

Yes in case of combination of 2 or more subjects.
I design the portraits using your photos in Photoshop enabling me to combine multiple images, remove objects, retouch photos (removing tack, collars etc). I find that often clients have a range of photos of their pets but perhaps not one ideal image, so as an example I can combine 2 dogs in a scene using 2 different photos. This allows my clients to see their pets in the most ideal setting and both me and my clients know the design of
the portrait before any work starts.

All of my portraits are hand painted using traditional pastel painting methods, with my home made pastels on velour paper . Have a look at my video page to see how my portraits develop.

Yes
I can make portraits of several models even if they are not in the same picture. It is always best to provide separate photos of each model to choose the ones that will be most appropriate for a harmonious combination. For animals, it is absolutely better to provide me with a maximum of photos because the animals rarely keep sitting and the more choices, the more chances of success.

The biggest size you have via email.
I like to see the image at the size it came from your digital camera or mobile device if possible. When photos are emailed they can be resized, please make sure they are the original size. The more photographs you can send the better. If you need help just drop me a line!

I’m not sure what size portrait to have?t

I can advise.
This is quite a popular question and there are a few things to take into consideration. Apart form your budget, you might like to think where you would like to display the painting. What size space do you have available – not forgetting to add extra on for framing. I often get my clients to cut out pieces of paper to various shapes and sizes and hold them up to the wall where they think they would like the portrait to be. This helps clients to visualise what it would be like. if you need any help and guidance, do drop me a line at anytime.

Upon receipt of my email containing the preview of the portrait, you can ask me to make alterations since the portrait is not yet sprayed. These touch-ups will however be brief and it is not possible for example to completely redo a background or change clothes. For such requirements, it is advisable to mention them before the portrait begins.
